Allison Brooks Janney, an American actress was born in 1959. Her work on the screen as well as the stage have garnered praise throughout the span of her 3-decade career. Janney was honored with many awards, including her own Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award. She also received seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Additionally, she was nominated for two Tony Awards. Janney came from Boston but was brought up close to Dayton near Dayton, Ohio. Her Kenyon College graduation earned her an award from The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Janney became a television star in 1999 with the character C. J. Cregg in the role of C. J. Cregg in the political drama NBC's The West Wing (1999 to the year 2006), where she won four Primetime Emmy Awards. Janney was honored with her Primetime Emmy Award for 2014 Outstanding Guest actress in an Drama Series, after her performance as Margaret Scully on the Showtime series Masters of Sex.
